The “Piergiorgio Riva’ School of Music” in Besana in Brianza is a very lively and popular cultural reality, thanks to its wide-ranging and high-quality training offer. Courses are offered for all wind and percussion instruments, and courses for classical guitar, electric guitar, piano, electric bass, strings, opera singing and choir.
The didactic offer is divided into a course aimed at acquiring instrumental competence, flanked by theoretical courses that complete the musical training in various aspects. The course of study is structured over a 6/7 year time timespan, divided into three levels; passing each level is the result of passing an exam.
There are also musical and instrumental propaedeutic courses under various offers from 12 months of age up to the first years of Primary School.
Completing this offer is the subsequent possibility of enrolling in the Professional Course, an important study opportunity through which students acquire high-level skills. The Professional Course aims to provide adequate preparation for passing the entrance exams to the academic courses of the Institutes of High Music Education, such as the Conservatories and Parified Institutes. Since 2023, moreover, the Piergiorgio Riva School of Music has also had an agreement with the Como Conservatory, which allows those enrolled to have their attendance of the Conservatory’s pre-academic courses recognised by attending instrument and theory lessons directly at the “Piergiorgio Riva” School of Music.

Music is not just an universal language, but also an opportunity to experience moments of beauty, freedom and challenge to our own limits. For this reason, it is every teacher’s priority to develop the abilities and predispositions of each individual pupil, with work plans that are always individualised and personalised.
The Piergiorgio Riva School of Music is also able to individualise teaching by means of courses designed specifically for boys and girls with disabilities certified in accordance with Law 104/’92 and specific learning needs, because we firmly believe that musical practice is in itself a vehicle for inclusion in its broadest, social and human sense, beyond the specific hours of music.
