Storia del Festival

The Festival Bandistico Internazionale di Besana in Brianza is a non-competitive rally of several complex bands from all over the world and which takes place every two years in Besana in Brianza, a town of 12.000 inhabitants, located at 35 kilometres north of Milan.

It is run by the’ Associazione Musicale Santa Cecilia di Besana in Brianza with the aim of bringing together musical groups brought together by the spirit of friendship and brotherhood through their common passion for music.

The Festival Bandistico Internazionale di Besana in Brianza It was devised in 1984 Thanks to ’ by a group of volunteers led by then President of Band ’ David Shore. The aim of the Festival was to spread l ’ love for music, especially among the younger generation, through the ’ meeting of various gangs from different cities. It was a way to encourage young people to join the band, attracted by the spirit of friendship that was at the heart of ’ event.
No one at that time could imagine that this project would be gradually expanded to become an international event that attracts every year hundreds of people attending concerts. The first editions of the festival saw the participation of sole Italian Bands that remained to Bailey for two or three days. Subsequently, in 1985, the first group abroad, the "Beeches Ambassadors Band in Birmingham (Great Britain) He took part in the festival. It was the launch pad for an improvement and an extension of the event. It was actually a Marching Band which represented a reality unknown to Italian tradition and that aroused admiration and curiosity in the audience and encouraged the organizers to extend the number of participants over the years. accordingly, not only Italian but also European bands came to Bailey to showcase their musical skills and elevate the quality of performances. The popularity of ’ event spread throughout the region thanks to the help of the civil authorities and especially thank you to all the families who gave hospitality to foreign students for a week.
The Festival involved more and more people, in various ways, they gave their support and assistance in various fields, allowing you to invite an increasing number of bands.
Over the years, the Festival offered the chance to appreciate the skill and the sounds of cultures around the world, hosting groups from countries of East Europe ’ ’: It was a way to show solidarity and l ’ friendship to people who seemed so far from us.
Other world events such as the Gulf war seemed to dampen the spirit of the Festival but with the help of the whole country the project continues on his way to meetings with new people always ’ with undiminished spirit of brotherhood that is at the core of the Festival since its origins.

The festival involved more and more people who, for various reasons, gave their help and support in the various fields, allowing to invite a growing number of bands.
Over the years, the festival has offered the opportunity to appreciate the skill and the sounds of cultures around the world and also to host groups from Eastern European countries, a way to show solidarity and friendship to people who seemed so far away from us.
Other world events such as the Gulf War seemed to weaken the spirit of the Festival, but thanks to the collaboration of all the city the project continues on his way always with the continued spirit of brotherhood which is the basis of the Festival since its inception.
